Advocates hoping to get electric bikes legalized in N.Y. in 2017

Electric bikes have motored their way to become a major issue for state lawmakers.
Advocates for the motor-assisted bicycles are pressing state lawmakers to pass a bill legalizing the controversial bikes before the Legislature ends its session in June.
“They are green transportation and they get more people on bicycles,” said Paul Winkeller, executive director of the New York Bicycle Coalition, which showed off several of the bikes to lawmakers at the Capitol last week. “I am optimistic that some form of an electric bike will be legal this year,” Winkeller said… Read more at:
