Bosch Nyon Ebike Display Updates: 3.2" Touchscreen, Dynamic GPS, Coming to North America!

Bosch announced a brand new version of their Nyon ebike display (which has been available since 2014 in Europe). This display will come to North Americal in Winter 2020, and be available as a retrofit aftermarket update for people who want to switch from Purion, Intuvia, or Kiox. I’ve listed a few of the updates from a presentation that the Bosch CEO did and welcome your feedback!

– Gen 1 Nyon launched in Europe in 2014
– The new Gen 2 Nyon as a touchscreen, as well as the independent button pad (usually mounted near the left grip on a bicycle handlebar)
– Features a 3.2" diagonal high-resolution color display
– Designed to be durable, working in rain, dusty conditions, and with gloves
– Optimum readability with the larger screen and high precision screen, brightness and backlight update automatically based on surroundings
– Special coating reduces reflection and fingerprints
– Can choose dark or light display mode to maximize contrast
– The user interface can be personalized, showing indicators and riding data that you choose
– GPS navigation is easier to interact with by using the touchscreen keyboard, or you can click locations shown on the map
– Map can be enlarged and moved with fingers
– Can save your current location and return to start, after riding a route, can permanently save home and work address
– Notification chimes for next turn, so you can focus on riding
– Map shows how far you can get based on current level of assist, battery, and traffic conditions, dynamic range update!
– Realtime feedback to change assist levels based on remaining trip distance and battery charge level
– Fitness feedback showing calorie consumption and optional heart rate monitor
– Speed, performance, and cadence are shown against average performance values… which improves motivation
– Compatible with smartphone app and online portal, automatically synchronizes ride data and installs software updates. Compatible with Bluetooth and WiFi
– Can plan routes using the Bosch Connected online portal
– Compatible with Kamoot and Outdooractive to help discover new routes, recorded ride data can be shared on Strava and Kamoot.
– Lock premium function, motor support is disabled whenever the display is removed (just like Kiox)
– Nyon can be installed in two positions, over the stem or up on the handlebar, both appear to position it at the center of the handlebar vs. one side
– Micro USB charging support at the base of the display
– The new Bosch Nyon display has won the reddot design award for 2020
Available as a retrofit upgrade starting in winter 2020 in the North America market
– Integrated antilock brake system (ABS) light for relevant ebike systems (mostly available in Europe)
– Provides the same ride mode selection as other Bosch electric bike displays (Off, Eco, Tour, Sport or eMTB, Turbo)
– Offers eShift so the display can show which gear riders are using if they have electronic shifting from enviolo, Rohloff, or Shimano
