Electric bike shop opens in downtown Petoskey

With the Pedego electric bicycles stocked at a new downtown Petoskey shop, riders have flexibility as to how much pedaling effort to invest in their two-wheeled travels.
Pedego dealer Bryan Newman recently opened his third shop, Pedego Petoskey, at 438 E. Mitchell St., Unit A, having previously established two locations in southern California since 2015. With a professional golfing background, Newman notes that “I was a Pedego owner before I was a Pedego customer.”
California-based Pedego, founded in 2008, offers a line of electric bicycles through dealers around the United States and 40-plus other countries. Riders can opt to pedal unassisted, engage a throttle-assist mode which delivers fully motorized operation similar to a scooter or — on many of the line’s models — use a pedal assist mode which automatically provides varying levels of assistance when pedaling is detected.
Rather than relying strictly on throttle assist, Newman said it’s more common for Pedego riders to selectively combine the aid of the motor with their own pedaling efforts…
