Retrospec Valen Rev 2 Review, 2024 | A Solid, Affordable, and Fun Moto-Style E-Bike
The Valen Rev 2 is a simplified, cost-friendly version of Retrospec’s first moto-style e-bike. While the higher-tier Valen Rev+ offers a more robust experience, the Rev 2 focuses on the basics to give riders a functional and affordable e-bike. We discuss its specs and performance in this Retrospec Valen Rev 2 review.
With a price tag of around $1300, this is one of the most affordable moped-style e-bikes we’ve reviewed. The starting point for a similar bike is often hundreds of dollars more, and this ethos jives with our previous experiences with Retrospec – the brand offers practical e-bikes at an awesome price.
There are significant differences between the two Valen models, but we felt that there wasn’t much of a sacrifice with the more affordable Valen Rev 2. The bike has a powerful 750W rear hub for riding fast and climbing hills; what more do you need?
It also has the benefit of simple operation. The Rev 2’s single-speed drivetrain means that riders don’t need to shift when pedaling (there’s a throttle included, too). And even though there’s not a display, we found the LED indicator panel easy to use.
