Ross Dickers adventure across Europe and Asia eventually ending up in Australia all on a Vespa PX150 specially built by Retrospective Scooters for the trip. Such a great journey for any young person to undertake is a wonderful eye opener to the real world, travelling on a road trip and taking all in the different countries and cultures, it can be a once in a lifetime character building experience.
Ross wanted to get off to a good start by having us build the Vespa that would make all the way to Australia. It had to be robust and easy to repair and find parts for , that’s why we went with a 150cc and not a 200cc of which there are not many of in Asia . The strongest most reliable Vespa had to be a PX but not the disc model as a cable front brake is simple and easier repaired. We had a strengthened lockable stand, the ultimate comfortable seat ( Spanish postie saddle ) very important, led lights, solid strong racks and box, LML select steel handlebars , adjustable shock absorbers lots of little details that make for a simple yet durable little road runner.
he made it with nothing but a puncture and a short on the battery , no other let downs except bumps and scratches. The scooter will come back to our shop and be on display and still used so if you came by it’s a great little feature to study closely .
Ross is back in Dublin working on his next adventure, more journeys are needed ,it’s an addiction.
