This last year has been pretty crazy – COVID and a whole lot of other things going on – but I’m getting back to converting the International Harvester 300 Utility tractor from gas to electric.
I had considered both a Nissan Leaf motor and a massive 13" forklift motor for this project. Neither is quite the right thing.
Believe it or not, I still have the 10.5" Nissan forklift motor that I used back when I converted my Geo Metro to electric. I think this one is going to be "just right" for the project.
It will run at 48V, which is a common voltage and easy to get motor controllers, battery chargers, and other components in that voltage range. I can also run a hydraulic pump with another electric motor, also at 48V, just like many forklifts.
