Haibike Partners with Renowned Street Artist to Raise Money for NICA

Haibike is pleased to partner with renowned LA street artist, Laurent Proneur, to create custom e-bikes, the first of which will be raffled to support the National Interscholastic Cycling Association’s (NICA) mountain biking programs. The bike will be on display during a special debut reception at the Laurent & Martin Gallery in West Hollywood, Calif. on May 23 from 6-10 p.m.

“The opportunity for Haibike to partner with an esteemed artist like Laurent Proneur wasn’t something we could pass up,” said Larry Pizzi, president and head of sales for Accell Group for North America. “Laurent is a retired pro BMX racer and e-mountain bike enthusiast who approached us to do this project. We’re thrilled to be bringing the world of art and cycling together to support a great cause.”

Proneur will create custom graphics for an XDURO DWNHLL 9.0 (MSRP $5899) to create a one-of-a-kind eMountain bike. The bike will be raffled from May 18 to September 16 and the winner will be announced at the Interbike’s Market Week, Sept. 14-20 in Reno, Nev. The first raffle ticket is free, limited to one per household, and individuals will receive one additional ticket for every $10 donated to NICA through Haibike’s online donation page.

“I’ve been riding bikes my whole life, but I’ve been particularly amazed by the freedom, fun and accessibility that e-MTB’s provide,” said Proneur. “I’ve really enjoyed working with the team at Haibike and I’m excited about how great the graphics on these bikes turned out.”

Born in France in 1969, Proneur grew up surrounded by the colorful lifestyle of his family as they lived and worked in circus troupes across Europe. From an early age, freedom and self-expression were instilled in him, and he was soon entertaining audiences as an acrobat, juggler and musician. In 1985, Proneur started painting graffiti, and his street art was soon recognized by some of the greats in the art world, including Jean Michel Basquiat. Proneur is currently painting in Los Angeles where he owns Laurent & Martin Gallery, in the heart of the Pacific design center.

Donations awarded to NICA will support the youth development non-profit that organizes interscholastic mountain biking programs for student-athletes across the United States. NICA provides leadership, services and governance for regional leagues to produce quality mountain bike events and supports every student-athlete in the development of strong mind, strong body and strong character through interscholastic cycling.
