A cover version of Yello’s track, Si Senor The Hairy Grill, from the 1987 album One Second.
A rather rockier track for the Swiss duo, and indeed a heavier one for me, this has long been one of my favourites by them and I often imagined playing a version in that fantasy covers band which plays lots of obscure favourites. That’s not going to happen, so it became another personal project.
Recorded in Cubase at home. Drums played on an Alesis Crimson 2 electric drum kit, triggering samples from Superior Drummer 3. All other instruments are virtual instruments (VSTi), with added vocals by yours truly, doubled up with a vocoder effect.
The original vocal line is whispered against the vocoder part, but I decided to change it into a sung part, following the lead from the vocoder melody.
