2018 Interbike Updates - Outdoor Demo Day at Northstar

2018 marks the first year that Interbike was held in Reno, Nevada instead of Las Vegas. Outdoor Demo Day moved from Bootleg Canyon, NV to Lake Tahoe, CA. In particular, the event was put on at the Northstar ski resort. I attended with some friends from a shop called Propel Bikes that began in Brooklyn, NY and is expanding with a second shop in Long Beach, CA. I drove from Colorado, where I had been visiting family, to Arizona, and then Long Beach to meet up with Chris and his team, to attend Interbike! I saw a bunch of interesting things at the show and put this short video overview together for people who couldn’t attend and those who might just be curious how the new event is laid out. I personally really like the new location because it’s not as dusty or hot.

After the long drive, we arrived at the event and I visited with a rep from Rambo electric bikes, then scooted over to the Ergon booth to learn about their new ebike specific saddle (which is rounded at the back to accommodate steep climbs) it’s called the SM E-Mountain, Hank the Tank puppy in a bicycle sidecar, Continental tires, Rohloff Speedhub (needs one oil change per year but is otherwise very durable and has internal indexing), Cyclo Electric Bikes, Voltaire Cycles from Danville New Jersey, GeoOrbital electric bike wheel, KΓΌat bike racks, Brian Sermiento with the 550 mile ride from Irvine (Bosch North America Headquarters) all the way to North Star in Tahoe, he brought 10 batteries and towed his Boogaloo bike for the race. The ride took him 4 days. Brian said that he was towing 400lbs and that he mostly used Turbo Mode. The way he hauled his bike was to use a front mount from Rocky Mounts.
