Footage from my summer 2025 motorcycle tour…The Grand Tour of Switzerland.
What a great motorcycle tour around a relatively small but beautiful nation! I love heading back to Switzerland – A place I spent around a year working across three seasons between winter 1989 and summer 1992.
I still envy its steadfast and determined independence, its constitutional populism, confederal make-up, and recognition that the people and not politicians are in charge.
Throw in beautiful landscapes and great roads and it all adds up to a great ride.
The tour was certainly enough to fill the seven days (35 hours’) riding.
We started and finished the tour at Bargen, in very the north of Switzerland, just over the border from Germany, though the footage starts at our rendezvous with my brother, at a Coop in Schaffhausen, just south of Bargen.
The tour saw my Honda CBF 1000 (anno 2007) finally reach 100,000 miles (160934.4 kilometres) on the way down through Germany. I set off with 99,618 and returned with 102,369 miles on the odometer this morning, so covered 2,751 miles (4427 kilometres) on the trip.
A worthy way to mark such a landmark mileage on a bike which I’ve owned from new, and stator replacements aside, has been super reliable. Worth mentioning that the bike, to date, has never been dropped – chiefly because I can flat-foot it.
Great to meet up and spend time with younger bro and old stalwart, Chris. Unfortunately, as per last year, Chris’ back played him up and he had to head back on the Wednesday, so unfortunately missed the last four days.
Footage from my Insta360 X5 camera, rendered at 60fps.
I’ll add in locations and time stamps here in due course.
