2027 Black Crows Vena Cor Skis - First Ride Review

Tom from evo caught up with Miles from Black Crows to check out the brand new Black Crows Vaya Core, a wider, 100mm-underfoot take on the brand’s popular Mirror Core, built to be a fun, playful ski across all conditions.

Key features:

– Poplar core kept light and lively, with solid sidewalls for stability but no metal or dampening to keep that energetic, snappy feel
– Soft tip and tail that engage easily into turns at lower speeds and stay predictable and intuitive
– Generous rocker in the tip and a fair amount in the tail, which holds its edge well despite the softer construction and rides shorter than its labeled length
– Distinctive "banana split" tail shape, more of a stylistic design choice than a performance feature
– Lightweight and stable enough to take off jumps and spin, landing composed

Who it’s for: this is a good fit for higher intermediate skiers who want to use the whole mountain, mixing quick turns, long turns, and playing around on side hits. We also see it as a solid one-ski quiver option for someone who doesn’t want to overcomplicate things and wants to hit groomers, chopped-up snow, and a bit of powder. It shines at lower to mid speeds and on mellow terrain, but it has a real speed limit, so it’s not the pick for someone who wants to push it straight through a mogul field. Since it rides a bit short, we recommend sizing up if you’re in between sizes.
