I start examining close-up the Battery Monitoring Boards (BMBs) on my 2013 Tesla battery modules, including testing them with a TBMM tool!

Looks like I need to order some capacitors and learn surface-mount soldering!
The C26 and C27 capacitors on the BMB board on each battery module are known to have problems. In my battery, it looks like moisture got in to modules 7 and 10, either/or/and through the rusted fuse cover or a bad umbrella valve. The plastic shell/cover of the module rubs against the capacitors, wearing off the conformal, and then the moisture gets absorbed and destroys the capacitor.

The battery module itself is actually fine, but the voltage is INCORRECTLY reported to the BMS, causing an error – in this case BMS_w107_SW_Cell_Voltage_Sensor and BMS_f107_SW_Cell_Voltage_Sensor which shut down the main battery pack. The car then can NOT drive, charge, or keep the 12V battery charged up.

I’ll need to inspect all these boards and the BMS wires on each module, then also inspect and replace the capacitors on the BMB and the umbrella valves in the battery pack shell.

How is my audio? I just bought a new microphone, and it seems to be working pretty well. Easy to use and hook up to my Canon M50 camera. It’s the Rode Wireless Pro.
