In the latest episode of “Moments that Matter”, we introduce our ambassador Harald Philipp. Harald’s life has always taken place in the mountains. Born in Siegen, he discovered his love of mountain biking at an early age. As an adventurer, he then spent many years travelling higher and higher mountains around the world on his mountain bike and giving talks about it. His longest tour was in Nepal in 2017. There he crossed the 5,300 metre-high Kang La Pass. He then came to the realisation: “I can’t and don’t want to go any higher or further”. Up to this point, he was only familiar with flow from the downhills. When planning his tour, the uphill was always just the means to the end and the downhill was the clear goal. In 2020, Harald moved from Innsbruck in Austria to a mountain village in Liguria, Italy. On the trails of the deserted mountain region, he discovered a completely new dimension of flow on his eMountain bike: the uphill. Suddenly he is no longer looking for the easiest or quickest way up, but the most fun. What remains unchanged is Harald’s thirst for adventure and the certainty that the most impressive moments are the ones you work hard for yourself.

In der neuesten Episode von „Moments that Matter“ stellen wir unseren Ambassador Harald Philipp vor. Haralds Leben findet schon seit jeher in den Bergen statt. In Siegen geboren, entdeckte er früh die Liebe zum Mountainbike. Als Abenteurer verbrachte er dann viele Jahre damit, immer höhere Berge weltweit mit dem Mountainbike zu befahren und darüber in Vorträgen zu berichten. Die größte Tour machte er im Jahr 2017 in Nepal. Dort überquerte er den 5.300 m hohen Kang-La-Pass. Danach kam bei ihm die Erkenntnis: „Höher und weiter kann und will ich nicht mehr“. Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt kannte er Flow nur von den Abfahrten. Bei seiner Tour-Planung war der Weg nach oben immer nur die Pflicht und der Trail bergab das klare Ziel. Im Jahr 2020 zog Harald von Innsbruck in Österreich in ein ligurisches Bergdorf in Italien. Auf den Pfaden der verlassenen Bergregion entdeckte er mit dem E-Mountainbike eine für ihn ganz neue Dimension von Flow: den Uphill. Plötzlich sucht er nicht mehr nach dem einfachsten oder schnellsten Weg nach oben, sondern nach dem spaßigsten. Unverändert bleibt dabei Haralds Lust auf Abenteuer und die Gewissheit, dass die eindrücklichsten Momente die sind, die man sich selbst hart erarbeitet.
