I bought a Chrysler Pacifical PHEV Battery Pack and took it apart to transport it home!
This battery pack is 96 LG cells in series. 6 modules, each containing 16 series cells. 360V nominal (400V fully charged)
Total capacity is 16kWh. That’s only about a 30 mile electric-only range in the Pacifica.
The pack also has high output current – up to 800A briefly. So it would be pretty perfect for a low-range but high power vehicle, like a cool summer around town sports car!
More importantly, it’s small and easy to work with. This will let me start bench testing some other components for my project which require high voltage, like the DC/DC converter and the Brusa battery charger.
I paid $300 for the whole pack, plus 473 miles of travel. The pack was already partly dismantled when I got it. For example, the high-voltage bus bars connecting the modules were already removed and gone.
