Testing an electric car or Electric scooters battery ensures that no accidents happen due to low quality cells or some manufacturing defects. Currently all of the Lithium Ion batteries are imported from China which is a market to everything ranging from high quality Lithium Ion cells to poor quality ones. Hence the need for battery testing arises.
The battery testing followed in US is called UL 2272. The battery test used in India is AIS 156 which is the newer test that should soon replace the old AIS 048 testing. AIS 156 is much more strict than UL 2272 and it ensures that the battery is at its best.
AIS 156 is also addressed as AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY STANDARDS SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR L CATEGORY ELECTRIC POWER TRAIN VEHICLES
