The Ariel Rider Kepler might be one of the most surprising fat tire eBikes I’ve tested for the money. At $1,699, this 750W electric bike delivers a 52V 20Ah battery, hydraulic brakes, adjustable air suspension, torque or cadence sensing, factory turn signals, and — when unlocked — a top speed of 40 MPH according to GPS.
In this full Ariel Rider Kepler review, I test the bike’s hill climbing power, acceleration, top speed, braking, stability, suspension, pedal assist, sizing, and overall build quality to see what you really get for the money.
The Kepler uses 24×4 fat tires, giving it a noticeably more compact feel than many 26×4 fat tire eBikes. I also test both the torque and cadence pedal-assist modes and take a close look at the bike’s 33-amp controller and adjustable air suspension fork.
One of the biggest surprises was the 40 MPH GPS-confirmed top speed. That’s well beyond typical Class 3 eBike performance and makes the Kepler a very interesting option for riders looking for a high-speed fat tire eBike without moving into an enormous 26×4 platform.
I’ll also cover the things I don’t love, including the unlock waiver, the relatively stiff suspension seat post, and the amount of pressure required to activate the torque sensor.
