HIKEEP MAD Electric Dirt Bike - First Ride Impressions

The HiKeep MAD electric dirt bike is unlike any eBike I’ve ridden before. With a 60V battery system, 5,000W rear hub motor, and a claimed 50+ MPH top speed, this thing feels much more like an electric dirt bike or eMoto than a traditional electric bicycle.

In this Hikeep MAD first ride, I’m taking it out for the first time to see what it’s really like. This isn’t the full review yet — I’m checking out the acceleration, power delivery, suspension, handling, braking, top speed, lights, and overall ride experience before putting together the full in-depth review.

And yes… we saw 50 MPH on the speedometer. The GPS showed approximately 47 MPH, so this thing is legitimately FAST.

One of the biggest things that surprised me was how smooth and quiet this bike is. The direct-drive motor makes virtually no motor noise, with most of what you hear coming from the tires and wind.

The Hikeep MAD also has a really interesting safety feature: after sitting for a short period, the bike automatically goes into park mode, requiring you to squeeze the brake before the throttle becomes active again. I actually really like that feature because it can help prevent accidental throttle activation.

The suspension also has a very “floaty” feel, with adjustable compression on the front fork and adjustable rear shock settings. The bike is big and heavy, though, weighing roughly 150 pounds, with much of the weight concentrated around the battery, controller, and rear motor.

This is also where I think the Hikeep MAD gets interesting. It’s not really a conventional electric bicycle. It’s much closer to an electric dirt bike / electric motorcycle, especially with its aggressive riding position, 19×3 dirt-bike tires, high power output, and 50 MPH capability.

Would you put one of these in your garage?
