Ryobi 40V mower powered by 18V batteries

I got a free junk 40V Ryobi lawn mower. I try powering it with a pair of 18V batteries in series. Will it work? Find out!

I’ve been playing around using a pair of 18V batteries in series to run a 36V mini bike. A friend sent me a message that his neighbor was throwing out a 40V Ryobi lawn mower, and asked if he should grab it for me. I said "heck ya!" and I was able to pick it up today and work on it tonight.

I’m using a pair of 3D printed battery holders, based on the file at Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1234683
It uses Keystone 209 clips to make the electrical connection: https://amzn.to/3aZRhZD
The lawn mower is essentially this one: https://amzn.to/3BZRTKF
If 3D printing isn’t your thing, 18V battery holders are now a manufactured part you can buy: https://amzn.to/3BZRTKF
